Our Story

Welcome to Delicias La Mariposa y Taqueria, where family, tradition, faith,

and authentic Mexican flavor come together.

We opened our doors in January 2025 as a small delicias and ice cream shop with a dream to grow and share a taste of home with the Searcy community. What started with snacks, sweet treats, and weekend food specials quickly became something much bigger as demand grew and new opportunities opened.

But this dream began long before the doors ever opened.

Coming from a family of 11 siblings, food has always been at the center of who we are. Big meals were always shared, family recipes were passed down, and our family often came together to help cook for gatherings and special events. For years there was talk in the family about someday doing something like this — creating a place where we could share our food, culture, and hospitality with others.

Then two sisters took a leap of faith.

One sister felt led to take action, and the other stepped alongside to help make the vision a reality. What started as faith and an idea has now grown into a true family business, built with love and supported by the whole family.

With faith leading the way, doors opened for us to expand into the suite next door and build a full kitchen, allowing us to serve fresh, homemade Mexican food — comida casera — made with the traditional flavors we grew up with and love to share.

Today, Delicias La Mariposa y Taqueria offers authentic Mexican dishes, a variety of delicias (snacks), and refreshing ice cream — all in one place. Whether you're here for a full meal, a sweet treat, or a little bit of both, we want every guest to feel like family, because to us, once you walk through our doors, you are.

This dream was also made possible by the sacrifices of our parents —

Teresa and Victor Manuel Garcia.

Their hard work, faith, and perseverance gave our family opportunities they never had. They sacrificed so much so we could have a better life, trusting God through every season and teaching us the values that now shape this business.

This restaurant is part of their legacy.

We honor them in the way we serve our community, welcome others, and strive to build something that blesses people.

Why “La Mariposa”? 🦋

Our name carries a special meaning.

Our family is originally from Guanajuato, Mexico, neighboring Michoacán, home of the beautiful Monarch butterflies that migrate through our region. The butterfly — la mariposa — represents migration, hope, perseverance, and family.

Just as the Monarch travels in search of a better future, our family made the journey to the United States with that same hope.

The butterfly reminds us of where we come from, the sacrifices made, and the unity that keeps our family strong.

For us, La Mariposa symbolizes transformation — from sacrifice to opportunity, from struggle to blessing, and from a dream into something beautiful to share with others.

Our mission is simple:

To share traditional Mexican food, culture, and hospitality with the city of Searcy through homemade meals, authentic flavors, and a welcoming family atmosphere.

More than serving food, we want to serve people.
